Presented by Bay View High School and sponsored by the War Memorial Center. Tours start/end at BVHS. This all-ages, 2-hour tour is open to the public and includes spots in Bay View and Milwaukee that are connected to Medal of Honor recipient Lance Sijan, a third-generation Bay View resident who died in a POW camp during the Vietnam War. Tour prices start at $25 and all proceeds will go toward the Bay View High School Captain Lance P. Sijan Memorial Scholarship. The heartiest of "thank you's" for honoring one of the greatest of heroes "It's never easy asking for money, but when the cause is right the lift isn't quite as hard. So it went with our latest WTMJ Cares effort to raise $30,000 for the Lance Sijan memorial to be dedicated Friday outside the main entrance to Milwaukee's Mitchell International Airport. The F-4C Phantom jet that has long been a landmark on College Avenue just east of Howell Avenue will find a new home next year at the Sijan Memorial Plaza, 5500 S. Howell. Tom Wilson feels a special affinity for Lance Sijan. Both were military pilots shot down by their enemies. Both were captured and held captive as prisoners of war, though different wars on different continents.
