Bay View Students Revive Lance P. Sijan Memorial Scholarship As Example Of Leadership, Love, And Honor

Students from Bay View High School have been leading the charge to bring back the Lance P. Sijan Memorial Scholarship, last given out in 1987. Their efforts motivated the development of a guided tour that was held on May 4, to educate area youth and members of the community about Captain Sijan’s story. At the age of 25, Sijan ejected from a disabled aircraft over Laos during the Vietnam War on Nov. 9, 1967.
